Excursions & Experiences
As a travel advisor with a deep appreciation for history and culture, I thoughtfully craft journeys that go far beyond the surface. I seek the best local guides, Whether it’s tracing ancient footsteps through charming medieval towns, exploring renowned UNESCO World Heritage sites, or connecting with local artisans and storytellers, I design immersive experiences that truly capture the rich traditions and layered histories unique to each destination. In addition to cooking classes, we have also arranged workshops in painting, pottery, and block printing, offering travelers hands-on opportunities to connect creatively with local heritage. Let’s bring the past to life—beautifully, meaningfully, and memorably.
In Marrakech, I visited a small organic market that showcased a diverse range of products. A memorable moment was meeting one of the local farmers, which established a personal connection to the produce and goods on display. I returned with exceptional olive oil, fragrant dried herbs, and hand-crafted soap, all produced by small local producers.
Segesta, like Agrigento, is a key ancient Sicilian site, famous for its well-preserved Doric temple and scenic setting. Founded by the Elymians, it was central in Greek-Carthaginian conflicts. Sicily’s rich history and exceptional cuisine make it a must-visit destination.
On a small group tour to Emilia Romagna, we went to Ravenna, a cultural gem, just inland from the Adriatic Sea. Once the capital of the Western Roman Empire, this quiet yet historically rich city is best known for its stunning early Christian and Byzantine mosaics—some of the finest in the world. The city's layered past blends Roman, Gothic, and Byzantine influences, making it a unique destination for history lovers. The Basilica of San Vitale features a mosaic of Empress Theodora (c. 500–548 CE), wife of Emperor Justinian I, ruled the Byzantine Empire. She was a strong and smart leader, helping make laws, supporting women's rights, and influencing religion and diplomacy alongside Justinian.
Emilia-Romagna is often called the culinary heart of Italy, and for good reason—many of Italy’s most iconic products and dishes hail from this fertile region. The area is known for Bolognese, Parmigiano-Reggiano, Balsalmico de Modena, Tortellini, Lasagna, Mortadella, Prosciutto de Parma, and Culatello (the king of cured salumi), and Lambrusco, a delicious sparkling wine.
food & wine
Food travel lets you explore a country’s history and traditions through the heart of a chef, winemaker, farmer, or grandmother. Our experiences have included picking grapes and olives in Italy, making pasta in sardinia, milking sheep and making ricotta in Sicily, sea vegetable foraging in ireland, baking bread and rolling couscous in Morocco, harvesting cacao in Bali, cooking with village elders in India, hunting for truffles near Bologna, and visiting a chili pepper farm in Tuscany.
I do a lot of research to discover the best bites such as Roman pizza with a perfect crust, a flavorful Porto sandwich with roast pork & sheep cheese, unforgettable barbeque ribs in Bali, a lobster dinner on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, a bowl of Sardinia’s Su Filindeu pasta, fresh pressed olive oil in Sicily, grilled fish in Northern Spain, and the perfect dosa in India. Even when we stop for a snack, it must be exceptional.
Our travelers have had the delightful opportunity to meet pasta experts, truffle hunters, seaweed gatherers, salt producers, talented chefs, passionate home cooks, fish smokers, bakers, cookbook writers, and talented artisan food and wine producers. Each encounter has enriched their experience and deepened their appreciation for culinary traditions.
Meals have included street tacos in CDMX, goat cheese quiche from a cheesemaker in Ireland, traditional dishes in a Berber village home, lunch at an impossible to get into restaurant with four tables in Modena, an indian feast in a village in Rajasthan, a sandwich in the Ortigia farmers’ market, exquisite Michelin-starred meals, lunch at the home of an olive oil producer, and dinner with a passionate winemaker and her chef.
We loved camel riding in Rajasthan, with a stop for a perfect gin and tonic, followed by an incredible Indian feast. I've led two tours in this epic land of palaces, forts, deserts, and royal splendor. Located in northwest India, Rajasthan offers golden desert cities, shimmering lakes, pink Jaipur streets, majestic forts like Mehrangarh and Amber, and rich culture—folk music, festivals, camel fairs, and crafts. The bold cuisine includes dal baati churma and spicy laal maas. Rajasthan is a timeless, regal, unforgettable experience.
Sardinia is a rugged, enchanting island in the Mediterranean, known for its crystal-clear beaches, ancient ruins, and fiercely independent culture. Sardinian cuisine is rustic and deeply local—think slow-roasted porceddu, handmade pasta like culurgiones, and bold wines like Cannonau. The island’s Nuragic heritage, unique language, and vibrant festivals set it apart from mainland Italy. Whether you're seeking luxury on the Costa Smeralda or slow living in a mountain village, Sardinia is a soulful escape rich in history and flavor. This particular beach (Cale Gonone) was only accessible by boat, which added to the experience and made the visit even more memorable.
On a recent trip to Ireland we had the option of Bioluminescent kayaking, a magical nighttime experience where you paddle through waters that glow with natural light, created by tiny organisms called dinoflagellates. When disturbed—by a paddle stroke, a hand splash, or even a fish swimming by—these organisms emit a bluish-green light, making the water shimmer and sparkle like something out of a fairytale.
Adventure & Well-Being
I always make it a point to add some spa time to the our journeys. Even a foot reflexology treatment can bring you back to life after a long flight! Morning yoga or meditation, sound baths, sailing, bike riding, Zip-lining, kayaking, camel riding, guided hikes and walks, have all been a part of our trips.
We collaborate with a diverse range of exceptional 5-star properties, alongside charming boutique hotels, beautifully restored family castles, picturesque wine and olive farm estates, and authentic riads nestled in Morocco. We love manor homes set in the serene landscapes of Ireland, as well as unique luxury glamping experiences in the exotic region of Rajasthan.
Where We Sleep
I love all the Raas properties in India, but my favorite is RAAS Devigarh. This amazing hotel is set in the beautiful Aravali Hills, just 45 minutes from Udaipur. The 18th-century palace is a beautifully restored heritage site that impresses every visitor. The food is exceptional and the chef outdoes himself daily! The property has been updated to be eco-friendly while maintaining the charm of traditional Rajputana architecture, making it a unique retreat. Don’t miss a walk to the nearby village of Delwara, where you will spot monkeys, wild boar, goats & cows in the street.
A trip to Ireland simply isn't complete without making a visit to the enchanting Gregan’s Castle. This exquisite luxury eco-friendly retreat is ideally situated in the captivating Burren region on the picturesque west coast of Ireland. The stunning 18th-century manor house is beautifully surrounded by meticulously maintained gardens that line the iconic Wild Atlantic Way, providing breathtaking views of the magnificent Burren hills and the serene Galway Bay. And the breakfast cannot be beat!
The Six Senses in the Douro Valley wine region is a truly charming retreat nestled within a stunningly scenic landscape, where rolling hills and picturesque vineyards seamlessly come together to create a tranquil environment. The spa is magical and every meal we had was perfect. This exceptional destination offers guests a unique opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of the region, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and exploration. The property is located on the N222 road, often described as one of the most beautiful drives in the world.
